The Bounty Hunter

Often, and perhaps most commonly, it is believed that paladins are champions of justice and goodness. They are the living avatars of these aspects, and none who stand against them may gainsay their word or deeds, for their character is beyond reproach.

For young Angela Blackwood, this might have taken some getting used to. From the time she was cognizant enough to have her own mind about things, she was always a champion of justice, defending those who could not defend themselves. From playground spats to lunchtime bullies, Angela never let a punch knock her down for too long before she was up again, spitting blood and showing those who would do harm that turning the other cheek was just not in the cards. And when she sprouted wings of flame during senior prom, burning away her dress, she understood that her calling had always been this.

It wasn’t long before she was fitting into her old gymnastics costume, taking flight over the city, ready to join the Council of Justice, who oversaw the protection of Heaven’s Seat and all beneath it, a position offered only by invitation to the most promising of prospects. Angela exceeded their expectations despite her flare for the theatrical and somewhat short fuse, and in time became an exemplary hero worthy to be sent down to deal with the threats on the ground. By the time she was twenty, she was dealt her codename: Imperion. Her strengths included wings of flame, able to form weapons from the essence of her own life force, a strength that could stop a train [and possibly destroy it], and speed that made her shadow feared amongst those who would do harm, as she descended upon them not unlike a vengeful angel, tall and invulnerable.
